A survey of existing User Generated Content tools

#1

I’m trying to compile a list of useful on-site UGC tools for journalism (or that can be used for journalism), outside of existing social media spaces (Facebook, Instagram, etc). These are the first ones that came into my head.

What did I miss?

Paid for
Hearken
Embeddable white-label modules for asking questions and voting

Groundsource
SMS-based question and answer tool

Pixlee
Photo/video uploading, management and publishing tool, primarily aimed at brands

ScribbleLive
Fully-integrated brand platform

LiveFyre
Major platform offering various UGC tools as part of its system

Free
Google Forms

Typeform
Better-looking, more mobile-friendly forms

#2

#3

Newsreps
A platform for news companies to pay for access to an audience of UGC creators.

#4

I’ve also had experience using Formstack in a newsroom for pretty/encrypted/mobile friendly forms (https://www.formstack.com/) but not sure how much better it is than free versions.

A few years ago I created Verification Junkie (VerificationJunkie.com) as a directory of tools for UGC and specifically verification. I am continuing that work today with the First Draft News Coalition over at (http://firstdraftnews.com)
